Heidi

Until I schedule a much-needed hair chop, I'm doing the two braids flipped on top the head look.

Turns out I'm somewhat on-trend.

Bizarro World

I've been wanting to post about wintry things. Food, clothes, places, and spaces to warm your heart when you have to face the bitter, bitter cold. Except this has been our winter:

Where am I? I'm so confused. I'm going to take a walk to sort my thoughts out. In sandals. With iced coffee.

The Most Important

If I wasn't obsessed enough with breakfast...

Excuse me?

Excuse me!?!

These must be made (and then consumed) immediately. Is it morning yet?

By the way, check out spoonforkbacon.com for more pleasing recipes & drool-worthy pictures all wrapped up in a clean and food focused design.

Just To Do It

I love a To Do list.

Nothing makes me feel more in control and productive than having one. Not accomplishing the tasks necessarily, but just the fact that such a list exists. And gets re-written. I'm often old school, paper & pen, since the motion of crossing off an item is pure joy indeed, but I also have found the following electronic forms useful:

Johnny Cash also enjoyed listing his to-dos...
I could have checked off a few of the above today. Can you guess which ones? Hint: I do not play the piano.

As much as I thrive on seeing my projects and errands lined up, ready to be checked off, I recently experienced an individual who took list making to a whole other level...to be continued...

Write blog post about To Do Lists.

Saying Goodbye

My heart has been healing over the last few weeks. It will always have a piece missing, but I do believe other pieces will thrive and grow and make it feel complete. Now it's time to get back to the world of meeting deadlines, accomplishing goals, cleaning, socializing and yes, blogging. See you soon.

Hunt & Gather

Anyone else as obsessed with Pinterest as I am?
Let's be friends.

Worth Its Weight

The world gets a little more shiny this time of year. I'm not complaining. Let's keep the sparkles, shimmer, glitter, and gleam going past the ball drop in whatever way we can.

If you see someone in gold shoes, follow them. Where there are gold shoes, there is a party.

Votives can be such simple mood enhancers.  These are sleek and mature, feeling oh so luxurious.

Easy on the eyes. Glide on the 14k look.

There are a lot of gold skirts on the market right now. It seems ridiculous in a way, but they can actually be played down for day wear.

I would like to switch out my flatware now and then. Mix it up. Gold seems a good choice for the winter months. Recently, I ordered the below set thinking I got a faboo deal at $40 for the entire package. What I didn't realize was that it contained only one of each utensil. Back they went, all five of them!

Butter is one of my new favorite brands of nontoxic nail polishes. Little known LuRuSo fact: the Spanish word for butter is also one of my favorite Spanish words. I also happen to like butter.

I can't mention gold without mentioning jewelry. I like this Madewell charm for its...well, charm. Skeleton keys have always held a whimsical place in my heart along with owls, dachshunds, and buttons.

Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere snapped this shot of the Soho Grand during the holidays. I love the recycling of corks and the unexpected gilt. In order to recreate my own, I need to start popping a lot of champagne bottles. Good thing I believe 2012 will be a year of many celebrations!

And for those who have more gold than they could ever want, why not digest it? Because that is totally logical.

"Daddy, I want a golden goose now!"

I suppose the most golden item you can possess is a trove of healthy family and friends. Treasure them, for they are worth their weight in gold.
