Home For The Holidays

Nothing like being home for the holidays: familiar faces, comfort (often free) food, no huge responsibilites, freezing temps...well, at least in the Midwest!

A few things I'm looking forward to this week:

Testing out the newly released 2010 Beaujolais Nouveau. According to Wikipedia, "wine critic Karen MacNeil has compared drinking Beaujolais Nouveau to eating cookie dough". Wait--is that supposed to be a bad thing?

Family time in Iowa. Rockwell City, The Golden Buckle on the Corn Belt.
The Rafferty Clan many moons ago (I'm in the middle on the lap).

Finally making an apple pie. Probably going to follow THIS recipe's lead although I am bound to quadruple the amount of spice. That's the way I roll with pie making.
Quality dog time. As Modern Family's Gloria would say, "It's a doggy-dog world out there".
B and I are having fun with the challenge of puzzle toys. The latest play things are:

Hoping I may get a glimpse of the Dunberry Lane turkeys. Here they are in September:

My last turkey count was 26. That's a lot of bird.
